Warehouse management

Warehouse management with lot traceability and FEFO

A food-grade WMS has to do more than track quantity. CDXAI's warehouse management runs receiving through shipping on lot-, license-plate-, and location-level inventory — with FEFO enforcement, cold chain monitoring, and traceability captured on every move.

General-purpose warehouse software counts boxes. Food distribution needs a WMS that understands expiration dates, temperature zones, allergen adjacency, and lot codes — because those are the things that determine what can ship, to whom, and in what order. CDXAI was built for that from the start, and it's part of the same platform as your orders, dispatch, and accounting rather than a separate system you integrate and reconcile.

Receiving to shipping, on one platform

The full flow lives in one place: appointment and dock scheduling, receiving with capture of lot and expiration, directed putaway, wave and batch planning, RF and voice-directed picking, pack-station verification, staging, and load planning. Each step reads and writes the same inventory record, so a putaway, a pick, and an adjustment are never out of sync with what accounting or order management sees.

FEFO enforcement and shelf life

For perishable product, picking the wrong lot is a write-off waiting to happen. CDXAI allocates first-expiry, first-out by default and surfaces near-expiry lots before they become shrink. Shelf-life rules can hold back product that won't survive the customer's own dating requirements, and expiration data follows the lot all the way to proof of delivery.

Cold chain, monitored in place

Temperature isn't a separate logbook. CDXAI monitors cold-chain zones with IoT sensors, auto-logs readings, and raises excursion alerts — and because it's the same system that runs picking, a temperature excursion can flag the affected lot, block the pick, and notify compliance without anyone re-keying anything. That ties directly into your FSMA 204records and HACCP monitoring.

Accuracy without the clipboard

Blind and guided cycle counting keeps accuracy high without a shutdown, and variances post straight to the ledger. Slotting optimization and predictive replenishment reduce travel and stockouts. Barcode and ZPL label management, deconsolidation, and cross-dock round out the operation. And because allergen data lives on the lot, the system can flag incompatible storage placements at putaway — see allergen segregation for how the 8-category matrix works.

The payoff of a food-specific WMS that shares one data layer with the rest of the business is simple: the warehouse stops being an island. What happens on the floor is immediately true everywhere else — in orders, in dispatch, in compliance, and in the numbers.
